Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and off-loading machines with precision and care
  • Cutting fabric or layers of fabric to meet specific requirements
  • Maintaining and making minor repairs to machinery to prevent downtime
  • Pushing carts, trucks, or cans of fibers between work areas
  • Cleaning machines and surrounding work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Assisting machine operators and other textile workers as needed
  • Selecting leather and cutting dies for various textile products
  • Cutting and preparing fabric, leather, and fur samples for quality control
  • Adjusting cutting techniques to accommodate different fabric types and garment styles
  • Operating clicker or punch press to stretch leather and other materials
  • Adjusting rotation and mixing action of vats to ensure optimal pelt processing
  • Examining products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Operating various machines to bleach, dye, coat, or finish fabric, thread, yarn, or other textile products
  • Preparing solutions to clean, dehair, pickle, oil, or tan hides and skins
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Working in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment with repetitive tasks
  • Handling heavy loads and standing for extended periods
  • Working in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Working a regular 35-hour week with a permanent work term
  • Working in an English-speaking environment
