We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care and improving the communication and swallowing abilities of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Diagnosis
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' communication and swallowing abilities, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing evidence-based treatment plans to address these needs. - Treatment and Intervention
Implement treatment plans, utilizing a variety of techniques and strategies to improve patients' communication and swallowing abilities, and educate patients and caregivers on self-management and health promotion. - Interprofessional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to ensure seamless patient care, participating in care planning and decision-making, and communicating effectively with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals. - Documentation and Record-Keeping
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress, utilizing electronic health records and other documentation tools as required. - Professional Development
Participate in ongoing professional development, staying current with best practices and research in speech language pathology, and contributing to the development of clinical decision support tools and other resources.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Current registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC) including applicable College certification(s).
- Knowledge of speech language pathology theory and practice within a patient and family-centered model of care.
- Knowledge of the CSHHPBC standards of practice and practice guidelines for clinical practitioners.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
