Your Responsibilities

  • Passenger Support: Provide safe and courteous assistance to passengers while boarding, securing mobility aids, and disembarking from the vehicle.
  • Safe Driving: Operate HandyDART vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws, company safety standards, and accessible transport guidelines.
  • Route Compliance: Adhere to assigned routes and schedules, making stops at designated points to ensure timely arrivals for passengers.
  • Safety and Compassion: Foster a secure, respectful, and understanding atmosphere for passengers, addressing their unique needs and concerns.
  • Vehicle Upkeep: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any issues or maintenance needs to the maintenance team.

Your Qualifications

  • A valid Class 4 unrestricted driver's license or equivalent (if you hold a Class 5, please obtain your learner's permit).
  • A clean driving history.
  • Strong customer service abilities and empathy for passengers with disabilities.
  • Capability to operate accessible transportation equipment and secure mobility devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests as well as background checks.
  • Previous experience in passenger transport, particularly with individuals with disabilities, is advantageous.
Position Details:

  • This is a casual, unionized role in Victoria, BC.
  • HandyDART Operators must be available for five days with two consecutive days off.
  • Flexibility for early, split, and late shifts may be required.
