Job Summary

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced sessional faculty member to teach English language instruction courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing learning materials and delivering lectures for a multi-level class of ABE English (ENGL 0500 and ENGL 0600).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans and instructional materials for English language instruction courses.
  • Teach lectures and lead discussions to promote student learning and understanding.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to ensure students meet course objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Stay current with best practices in English language instruction and incorporate new ideas and approaches into teaching practices.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as English language and literature, linguistics, or education.
  • Teaching experience in English language instruction, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
  • Experience with technology-enhanced instruction and online learning platforms.
