Position Overview
As a key member of the BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals facing complex mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing biopsychosocial assessments, including mental status evaluations and physical health assessments. Develop and implement an Integrated Treatment Plan (ITP) tailored to individual clinical needs, ensuring that the Regional Clinic Manager is updated on any emerging issues.
- Facilitate community case management and advocacy for clients by coordinating with mental health teams, medical professionals, and social service agencies to ensure seamless care and information sharing.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of client interactions and treatment plans in accordance with regulatory standards, supporting the clinical decision-making process.
- Deliver nursing services and therapeutic support to clients and their families, addressing immediate needs and providing guidance on medication management and mental health resources.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with individuals experiencing severe psychiatric conditions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, with the ability to travel locally as needed.
Skills and Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of nursing principles and forensic psychiatric nursing practices.
- Familiarity with professional standards and ethical guidelines set by the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives.
- Awareness of community resources and interdisciplinary collaboration in client care.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and the provincial court system.
- Commitment to ongoing education regarding Indigenous rights and cultural safety.
