Position Overview

The IT Project Portfolio Manager will report directly to the Director of the Office of IT PMO. This role is pivotal in managing and assessing business cases for project intake within your designated portfolio, adhering to a structured framework and toolset. You will serve as the vital link between business units and the PMO, ensuring that business requirements and initiatives are effectively aligned, adequately resourced, meticulously planned, and efficiently managed.

Key Responsibilities:

The IT Project Portfolio Manager is accountable for:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating and negotiating effectively with senior business leaders, fostering a win-win approach.
  • Communication: Engaging professionally and effectively with the business leadership team and the One IT leadership pillars.
  • Analytics: Gathering and evaluating data at the portfolio level, providing insightful reports as necessary.
  • Performance Management: Delivering regular qualitative assessments and recommendations to both the business and PMO Governance.
  • Process Ownership: Overseeing qualification, benefit realization, prioritization of initiatives, resource allocation, risk management, and budgeting for IT PMO portfolios under your supervision.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Promoting, coaching, and educating the business on the value of the Portfolio Management role.
  • Ensuring compliance with WSP Health and Safety standards.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of experience in PMO Portfolio Management at an enterprise level.
  • A relevant project/program management qualification (e.g., PRINCE Practitioner, PMP) is preferred.
  • Experience managing projects across diverse geographical locations for over 5 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in line management and individual development within a matrix organizational structure, with a proven track record in team transformation and building.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio management processes, project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IT lifecycle, including pipeline, resource management, demand, project delivery, and financial aspects.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Portfolio Accreditation is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with peers and leaders.
  • Experience in strategic operational planning, governance, and portfolio management is highly beneficial.
