Co-op Engineer for Smart Factory Digitization

**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Engineer to join our team at Johnson Electric. As a Co-op Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming existing manufacturing processes into modern digitized processes using IIOT and other modern computer hardware and software tools.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in the development of Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML, database, SQL, and no-code applications to digitize the shop floor.
- Develop automated process data acquisition and control of equipment.
- Work independently and take initiative to drive projects forward.
- Collaborate with production and technical support resources and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, continuous improvement, and project management.
- Be willing to work any assigned daily shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives.
- May help maintain and develop equipment utilizing machine learning techniques.
- Work in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Computer Programming program at a University or College.
- Excellent computer skills and experience using modern computer techniques (Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML).
- Experience with open source software, hardware, and techniques.
- Machine learning is considered an asset.
- Database and data manipulation skills with SQL, Python, csv, etc.
- Knowledge of Windows OS, Linux OS, and IIOT devices.
- Can-do attitude with a desire to learn.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and robots is considered an asset.
- Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
