We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Engineer to join our team at Johnson Electric. As a Co-op Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of smart manufacturing cells and work processes.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the development of Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML, database, SQL, and no-code applications to digitize the shop floor.
- Develop automated process data acquisition and control of equipment.
- Work independently and take initiative where appropriate, from the office to the shop floor.
- Collaborate with production and technical support resources and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Develop knowledge and skills to be recognized for expertise and functional leadership in application of engineering principles, scientific analysis, continuous improvement, and project management.
- Be willing to work any assigned daily shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
- Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives.
- May help maintain and develop equipment utilizing machine learning techniques.
- Work in compliance with Johnson Electric Canada Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
- Education: Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer Programming student in a University or College program, or similar, with preference for automotive parts or manufacturing background.
- Preference is for students in the latter years of their program.
- Excellent computer skills and experience using modern computer techniques (Python, Django, JavaScript, HTML).
- Experience with open source software, hardware, and techniques.
- Machine learning: Considered an asset.
- Database and data manipulation skills with SQL, Python, csv, etc.
- Knowledge of Windows OS, Linux OS, and IIOT devices.
- Can-do attitude with desire to learn.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and robots is considered an asset.
- Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
