Your Role and Contributions
- Develop conceptual layouts for structure and system installations for the complete airframe on both new and existing aircraft programs.
- Collaborate closely with stress, systems, interiors, and support functions such as thermodynamics and mass properties.
- Create preliminary design studies and layouts utilizing 3D modeling techniques.
- Provide technical solutions to address design or manufacturing challenges.
- Generate and implement weight-saving initiatives.
- Contribute to impact analysis concerning technical, cost, and scheduling aspects.
- Directly support other engineering and operational departments.
- Assist in design and program reviews with partners and suppliers.
- Report project status to management.
- Oversee design modifications throughout the change management process.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- A technologist or bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the aerospace sector or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation, including configuration, preliminary sizing, design for manufacturing, detail design (sheet metal, machined parts, piping, component assembly, GD&T), materials and processes, certification requirements, weight control, and industry design standards.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Understanding of aircraft systems' overall operation and function is an asset.
- Knowledge of in-service operations and aircraft maintenance is advantageous.
- Experience with aircraft interiors is a plus.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, Enovia, and MS Office is required; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
- Energetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong sense of commitment, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French is a plus.
