Are you passionate about providing quality nursing care? We are looking for a committed Licensed Practical Nurse who is eager to deliver empathetic patient support at Northern Health.

The LPN operates within a client and family-centered care framework, adhering to the standards, scope, and ethical guidelines established by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), alongside the mission and values of Northern Health. Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor or their delegate, and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes the Nursing Process to conduct assessments, develop care plans, and deliver nursing services, while also guiding other staff members as necessary.

The LPN functions in alignment with the expected competencies within the Entry to Practice Competencies, Scope of Practice, and Standards of Practice as outlined by BCCNM, while also following organizational policies, procedures, and unit-specific protocols.

The LPN will assist clients and their families in achieving and maintaining optimal health through the following responsibilities:

Work Schedule: Shifts include Days and Evenings, from 07:00 to 15:00 and 15:00 to 23:00 (rotating).

New Wage Structure: As of April 1, 2024, the updated wage is: $41.35/hour.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • At least one year of recent, relevant experience in acute care or residential settings.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated expertise in a specific clinical specialty or patient demographic, depending on the nature of the caseload (e.g., acute care, gerontology, palliative care).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to delegate care and share knowledge with the multidisciplinary team, clients, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adept at observing and recognizing changes in clients' conditions.
  • Proficient in planning, organizing, and prioritizing care; capable of initiating and implementing care plans.
  • Ability to operate relevant equipment and proficiency in applicable computer applications.
  • Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the position.
