Senior Food Processing Engineer

Laporte & Associates, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Food Processing Engineer to join our team. With a strong focus on process design for the food, beverage, and biotech industries, this role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise and drive innovation.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in client needs and project definition, ensuring a deep understanding of their requirements.
- Lead all project phases, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, defined scope, timelines, and budget.
- Review engineering deliverables, maintaining high standards of quality and defining project risks.
- Write technical reports and analysis to support design submissions, showcasing your expertise and attention to detail.
- Review shop drawings for compliance and participate in the development of engineering standards, driving consistency and excellence.
- Obtain proposals from and follow-up with suppliers and contractors, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless project execution.
- Visit and survey project sites for project-related activities, staying connected with clients and stakeholders.
- Management of deliverables and project execution (estimated 50% of workload), ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Process, utilities, and mechanical designs (estimated 50% of workload), applying your technical expertise to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Chair project team meetings, facilitating collaboration and driving project success.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of local codes and standards applicable to industry and projects, staying up-to-date with the latest regulations and best practices.
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields, with 8-10 years of progressive experience in process design for the food, beverage, or biotech industry.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing is an asset, demonstrating your commitment to efficiency and excellence.
- Strong leadership, relationship management, and organizational planning and project management skills, combined with technical knowledge and expertise.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, driving innovation and excellence.
- Knowledge of post-implementation, continuous improvement efforts and methodology, ensuring ongoing improvement and success.
- Ability to influence clients, suppliers, and peers into adopting best practices in the engineering field, driving industry-wide excellence.
- Capability to engage and energize others to reach their fullest potential and performance, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite, Autocad, Revit, and other industry-standard tools, ensuring seamless project execution and collaboration.
- Flexibility to travel to manufacturing sites as needed, staying connected with clients and stakeholders.
