Position Overview
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality healthcare as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner, adhering to the defined scope of practice as per the provincial Nurses Act and relevant nursing standards.

Essential Qualifications

  1. Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
  2. At least one year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner within the past five years.
  3. Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  4. Strong understanding of privacy regulations, evidence-based nursing practices, and mentorship.
  5. Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  6. Demonstrated reliability in attendance and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Stay informed about the latest trends and issues in healthcare and the Nurse Practitioner profession.
  2. Engage in process improvements related to Nurse Practitioner practices to enhance service delivery.
  3. Collaborate with team members to develop, monitor, and assess evidence-based care protocols for geriatric populations.
  4. Provide expert consultation to nursing staff regarding diagnosis, testing, and medication management as per nursing standards.

Health Assessment and Diagnosis

  1. Conduct thorough health assessments.
  2. Order and interpret diagnostic tests in line with nursing standards and regulations.
  3. Establish accurate diagnoses.
  4. Develop and implement treatment plans in partnership with patients and healthcare teams.

Management of Health Conditions

  1. Apply knowledge of best practices in patient care delivery.
  2. Prescribe and manage medications according to legal and organizational guidelines.
  3. Monitor and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  4. Facilitate timely referrals and collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Health Promotion and Illness Prevention

  1. Promote health services and implement prevention strategies at various levels.
  2. Integrate risk reduction and disease prevention methods into practice.
  3. Contribute to community health initiatives as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Professional Accountability

  1. Maintain competencies as outlined in the NANB Standards of Practice.
  2. Actively engage as a team member to ensure comprehensive care for all patients.
  3. Promote excellence in advanced nursing practice.
  4. Utilize research to enhance clinical knowledge and evidence-based care.
  5. Build a network of referral sources to facilitate patient care.
  6. Serve as a mentor and resource for Nurse Practitioner students and colleagues.
  7. Commit to ongoing professional development and education.
  8. Participate in the creation and evaluation of care standards in collaboration with team members.
  9. Engage in relevant professional meetings and committees as required.
