Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to oversee our tax compliance and planning efforts at Jacobs Douwe Egberts. This role will report directly to the Senior Director of Tax Treasury and Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for auditors, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and other tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with external tax service providers to ensure compliance and accuracy in tax deliverables.
  • Review and analyze Canadian and provincial tax returns and working papers.
  • Support quarterly tax provisions that align with the company’s financial reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate tax installment calculations to optimize cash flow while minimizing penalties.
  • Provide strategic tax advice on contract structuring to enhance cash flow and reduce withholding taxes.
  • Assist in acquisition due diligence by identifying potential tax risks associated with target companies.
  • Engage with various departments to identify opportunities for tax efficiencies and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, with a Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • Possession of a recognized Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA).
  • A minimum of 6-8 years of relevant tax experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience with international transactions and corporate acquisitions is advantageous.
  • Proficient in the preparation and review of Canadian tax returns and provisions.
  • Familiarity with IFRS standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual proficiency, with a strong emphasis on English.
