Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective management and administration of improvement districts in Alberta, adhering to all relevant federal and provincial laws, particularly the Municipal Government Act, while maintaining high standards of accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Enhance the sustainability and capacity of municipalities by improving local governance knowledge and public understanding, offering guidance and information to both elected and appointed municipal officials, as well as the general public, and providing training to municipal staff.
  • Respond promptly to the ministry, elected representatives, and the public by delivering accurate and timely responses to ministerial tasks, including correspondence, briefing documents, and action requests, ensuring that communications are consistent, appropriate for the intended audience, and compliant with applicable government and ministry regulations.
  • Contribute to ministry initiatives and programs by actively engaging in departmental activities aimed at improving service delivery, ensuring alignment with the strategic vision of the department.
