Job Summary

The Government of Alberta seeks a skilled Real Property Governance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the Land Planning Unit, you will play a critical role in the administration of applications under the Real Property Governance Act, the Post-Secondary Learning Act, and the Education Act.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft decision-making documents, including letters, Ministerial Orders, and briefing notes.
  • Identify and analyze opportunities for properties to support capital projects or other Government needs.
  • Consult with staff from Infrastructure and other Government departments to clarify and confirm land needs, identify and interpret property encumbrances, and other details.
  • Administrate formal applications in accordance with legislated procedures and internal policies.
  • Provide Management with background information on new files, analyze the file, and make recommendations for further actions.
  • Review and provide advice on issues of municipal zoning bylaws, Area Structure Plans, and Servicing/Development Agreements with municipalities and utility operators.
  • Assist with process development, process improvement, and record keeping for RPG activities.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of Real Property Governance Act decisions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A strong understanding of the Real Property Governance Act and related legislation is essential.
