It also supports the establishment of pioneering large-scale facilities for the production of next-generation renewable fuels.

Position Overview:

This role reports directly to the Vice President of Performance and is accountable for comprehensive project oversight and corporate results reporting within the organization. The Director will manage the contracting, execution, and post-project reporting phases throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational standards.

The Director will lead a dynamic team, manage budgets, and fulfill reporting obligations, ensuring that project management processes are efficient and that funded initiatives meet the organization's quality standards. This position is pivotal in supporting the successful delivery of both funded and organizational projects.

Key responsibilities include ensuring transparency, accuracy, timeliness, relevance, and auditability in the organization’s results measurement and reporting. The Director will leverage the organization’s extensive data resources to enhance performance and sustainability.

The role also involves conducting due diligence on new projects, preparing modification requests for existing initiatives, and engaging with all organizational levels, including senior management within portfolio companies. Occasionally, this individual may serve as a backup for the Vice President of Performance.

Travel Requirements:

Travel is anticipated to engage with new applicants and existing portfolio companies, estimated at approximately 15% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead contracting and project management activities, coach recipients, and troubleshoot project challenges to ensure progress towards results while managing financial, governance, and reputational risks.
  • Continuously assess and enhance processes to boost efficiency, uphold governance, and ensure accountability.
  • Oversee daily team management through coaching and mentoring, empowering team members to take ownership of their portfolios while achieving results.
  • Establish, monitor, and achieve performance goals such as portfolio disbursements and risk analysis.
  • Coordinate project management and evaluation activities to meet established goals.
  • Manage project-level negotiations with legal and financial auditors.
  • Review and approve contracts and modifications, as well as milestone claims and disbursements.
  • Ensure project data is collected and updated for reporting requirements.
  • Summarize and present portfolio updates to the Executive Team.
  • Oversee project close-out and post-project reporting processes, including financial audits.
  • Participate in due diligence meetings as a management representative.
  • Lead assessments of contract readiness and quality control of team inputs.
  • Manage the Modification Request process and present requests to the Project Review Committee.

Corporate Reporting:

  • Oversee performance data gathering and reporting activities, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Contribute to corporate strategies by identifying performance information that supports results.
  • Develop metrics for analyzing performance from both corporate and portfolio perspectives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data value through new methods and tools.
  • Optimize automation to improve reporting efficiency.
  • Support communication strategies that leverage performance analysis to engage stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with senior management to build case studies showcasing organizational benefits.
  • Lead quality control of project-level information for the organization’s website and annual report.
  • Maintain knowledge of government policies to ensure alignment with clean technology objectives.

Cross-Organizational Support:

  • Develop and execute initiatives that impact the portfolio and recipients.
  • Manage relationships with complementary funding agencies.
  • Support negotiations and recapitalization efforts.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Education:

Required: Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fields; Business or Commerce degree.

Assets: MBA, managerial accounting, and project management certification, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in project/program management, preferably in the environmental sector.
  • 7+ years in financial management of large-scale programs, risk management, contract management, and resource management.
  • Experience in start-up companies and/or government departments.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of sustainable development and environmental issues.
  • Attention to detail with project/program management experience.
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
