About Us

The Policy and Engagement team within the Ministry of Housing is a newly established group dedicated to addressing the pressing housing challenges in the province. Our team is composed of experienced professionals, including senior planning and policy analysts, all working collaboratively to enhance housing supply and set effective housing targets.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Engage in comprehensive policy analysis and develop innovative solutions to enhance housing and land use planning.
  • Consult with various stakeholders, including municipalities and Indigenous communities, to ensure inclusive policy development.
  • Contribute to the formulation of provincial policies, programs, and legislative frameworks aimed at improving housing accessibility.
  • Produce high-quality documentation, including policy papers, legislative drafts, and executive correspondence.
  • Collaborate with senior management and ministry executives to align strategies and objectives.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in land use planning or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia and/or the Canadian Institute of Planners.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in land use planning and development.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in policy implementation, including the identification and design of options.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in researching and analyzing regulatory and program-related issues.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in producing complex written documentation for high-level audiences.
  • Experience working with senior management and ministry executives.
  • Familiarity with local government housing policies, development approval processes, and community planning strategies.

This position offers flexible work arrangements, allowing for a combination of in-office and remote work options, subject to an approved telework agreement.
