About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist I to join our team at Alberta Health Services. As an Occupational Therapist I, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive assessment, consultation, and treatment programs for patients in acute care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their occupational needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide effective patient care and discharge planning.
  • Utilize strong clinical reasoning skills to assess clients, develop treatment programs, and liaise with Therapy Assistants.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, providing rehabilitation education and consultation services to staff and community.
  • Participate in Occupational Therapy service development, planning, and evaluation, and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Current CPR (BCLS) certification.
  • Recent experience in acute care settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary health care team providing rehab services to a diverse range of patients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lower leg assessment and bedside swallowing assessment training.
  • Ability to coach and supervise Therapy Assistants to their scope of practice.
  • Willingness to participate in quality monitoring activities, meetings, and education sessions to improve outcomes.
