Prepares reports, calculations, data sheets, and other deliverables following company protocols and templates. Reviews discipline drawings and inter-discipline information for alignment with project goals, client specifications, company standards, and industry norms. Gathers materials for requisitions and construction work packages. Addresses technical inquiries with the Discipline Lead or senior personnel. Intermediate Engineer
Engages in specialized applications (e.g., research, design) with initial supervision in preparation for leadership roles. Organizes own workload across multiple projects; capable of working independently on deliverables and collaborating with clients and other disciplines. Manages materials take-off and constructability from an engineering/design viewpoint. Supports estimate development. Understands stakeholder expectations and contributions to project success. Develops requisitioning protocols and discipline-specific scope narratives for contracts and materials requisitions. Evaluates vendor and contractor proposals from a technical perspective. Provides field engineering support specific to discipline needs. Contributes to resolving discipline-specific RFIs. Actively participates in discipline-specific HAZOP, HAZID, 3D Model Reviews, JHAs, or other formal project reviews as required. Senior Engineer
Recognized authority in discipline-specific engineering, design (e.g., calculations), and vendor documentation review. Develops the engineering section of the Project Execution Plan (PEP). Oversees materials take-off and constructability management from an engineering/design perspective. Supports estimate development; may prepare man-hour estimates and deliverable lists for review with department leadership. Supervises and mentors a team of project personnel, including both technical and non-technical staff. Leads discipline-specific HAZOP, HAZID, 3D Model Reviews, JHAs, or other formal project reviews as necessary. Provides guidance and mentorship to E.I.T.s, technicians, and technologists, ensuring adherence to appropriate procedures and specifications. Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:
Junior Engineer: 0-4 years of experience; holds Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation. Intermediate Engineer: 5-10 years of experience. Senior Engineer: 10+ years of progressive experience, including 10+ years in Canada and 5 years in leadership roles. University degree (for Senior), technical diploma, or certificate from a recognized technology program; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Registration with the applicable provincial governing body. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drafting software. Experience with 3D design/drafting software (e.g., AutoPlant, Plant 3D, OpenPlant, etc.).
