Job Title: Human Resources Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Specialist to join our team at King Hopkins Pet Hospital. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing strategic support to our organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer staff consultation and grievance procedures to ensure a fair and respectful work environment.
  • Coordinate the activities of the HR department to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate daily operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate human resources policies and programs to support employee growth and development.
  • Train staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure a high level of employee engagement and productivity.
  • Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs, and collective agreements to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Mediate labour disputes and grievances to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Oversee the classification and rating of occupations to ensure accurate compensation and benefits.
  • Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales to support organizational decision-making.
  • Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs to promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Manage contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs to support employee growth and development.
  • Manage training and development strategies to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee the analysis of employee data and information to inform organizational decision-making.
  • Research employee benefits and health and safety practices to recommend improvements and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the development of communication strategies to promote employee engagement and productivity.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports to support organizational decision-making.
  • Respond to employee questions and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff to ensure a high level of employee engagement and productivity.
  • Negotiate collective agreements on behalf of employers or workers to ensure fair and equitable terms.
  • Recruit and hire staff to support organizational growth and development.
  • Propose improvements to methods, systems, and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
