About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HVAC Engineering Trainee to join our team at BBA Consultants. As a key member of our thermal systems team, you will be responsible for participating in engineering, selecting technology, and executing mechanical and multidisciplinary projects in the mining, energy, and heavy industry sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in carrying out small, medium, and large multidisciplinary mandates within a work team of engineers and technicians.
  • Work with the team on innovation projects involving decarbonization and energy recovery in the industrial sectors.
  • Design heat recovery systems (HVAC, power systems – cooling and heating loops).
  • Carry out studies and detailed engineering mandates for clients with brownfield or greenfield projects.
  • Assist more experienced staff with the technical aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Occasionally coordinate the work of drafters or others at the request of a senior engineer.

Requirements

  • Three years in an undergraduate mechanical engineering program (at least 80 accumulated credits).
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite and other applications, databases, and interfaces.
  • Relevant experience in the industrial sector.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following fields of application: pumping, building services (HVAC), dust collection, and thermal systems.
  • Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written, and ability to draft technical documents in both languages.
  • Asset: knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and AFT Fathom applications.
  • Asset: mechanical experience in the heavy industry, energy, or mining sectors.
