Meat Department Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meat Department Manager to lead our team and drive sales in our meat department.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service, growing sales, and managing a team of meat department employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the meat department to ensure it is prepared for daily operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and scheduling.
  2. Hire, motivate, and mentor team members to maintain the highest level of productivity and engagement.
  3. Lead, coach, and train team members to maintain the highest level of productivity and engagement.
  4. Resolve team member and customer issues as they arise.
  5. Be committed to maintaining merchandising and operational standards, including health and safety, food safety, and loss prevention.
  6. Uphold company policies and procedures, including employment standards, WHMIS, food safety, and loss prevention.
  7. Merchandise, manage inventory, schedule, and be accountable for financial objectives.
  8. Implement initiatives that support company objectives, including monitoring local competitors and reacting to local market conditions.
  9. Provide exceptional customer service to all team members, customers, and vendors.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a meat department with management experience and product knowledge.
  2. Previous experience with cutting meat.
  3. Knowledge of raw materials, product processes, and quality control costs.
  4. Thorough understanding of financials with a proven track record of delivering on financial targets.
  5. Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new systems.
  6. Understanding of employment standards, WHMIS, food safety, and loss prevention practices.
  7. Ability to role model and inspire behavior consistent with our values.
  8. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  9. Ownership to resolve issues with a sense of urgency.
  10. Effective communication and listening skills.
  11. Strong creativity skills and ability to create eye-catching displays.
  12. Work is performed in a store retail environment.
  13. Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends.
  14. Travel is required to support off-site events.
