First Student is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, drivers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with regional and senior teams to develop and deploy safety provisions in accordance with budget and guidance.
  • Conduct comprehensive incident investigations and share best practices for problem-solving.
  • Provide support to risk management and claims management, including root cause analysis and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee multiple locations to ensure compliance with First Student policies and SOPs, as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare monthly reports and safety performance analysis for locations.
  • Assess location safety performance using various tools and provide safety training for new staff members.
Requirements:
  • 7 years of safety/transportation experience
  • 5 years of experience in fleet transportation management
  • Strong commitment to safety and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other software
  • Collision investigation training and state/provincial instructor certification
