The Chief Technology Officer will collaborate with the Executive Team to establish and articulate the strategic vision for the company's Digital Transformation, overseeing the implementation of this strategy. This individual possesses a deep understanding of the market landscape and is driven to elevate the company’s technological capabilities. A successful candidate will have a diverse background in technology and a keen insight into emerging trends such as Business Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IoT, and Cybersecurity. The Chief Technology Officer will be enthusiastic, driven, and adept at aligning business requirements with suitable technological solutions, leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance decision-making processes at Dumas while ensuring seamless interoperability across the organization.

Additionally, the Chief Technology Officer will oversee the daily operations of the Development & Data Analytics team and the Information Technology Services team, which includes helpdesk support, onboarding, hardware management, telecommunications, and network infrastructure, while also managing the Technology budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead the Digital Transformation initiatives in alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
  2. Engage with leadership and staff to address challenges, coordinate efforts, and resolve issues.
  3. Ensure adherence to technology standards and best practices across the organization, resolving technical challenges efficiently and cost-effectively.
  4. Supervise research and case studies on cutting-edge technologies, assessing their feasibility for implementation.
  5. Manage and oversee technology projects of varying scales, including research & development, planning, and deployment, guided by the DORA framework.
  6. Stay informed on technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  7. Proactively respond to significant technological shifts to maintain the company’s competitive edge.
  8. Ensure compliance of internal technological processes and customer-facing services with legal and community standards regarding privacy, security, and social responsibility.
  9. Establish and uphold technical standards for product development and operational processes.
  10. Develop and monitor the annual operating budget for the department to meet financial objectives.
  11. Negotiate service level agreements with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring service delivery meets established targets.
  12. Responsible for attracting, retaining, mentoring, and developing all Technology personnel.
  13. Direct the formulation and execution of policies, procedures, and standards related to technology and telecommunications systems.
  14. Oversee the procurement, inventory management, and disposal of hardware and software, serving as the primary liaison with external vendors.
  15. Maintain the integrity and continuous operation of the network infrastructure, including wireless networks, ensuring the functionality of critical operations.
  16. Develop, review, and validate backup and disaster recovery protocols, overseeing corporate-level network security measures.
  17. Accountable for the security of all data and networks, maintaining an up-to-date understanding of cybersecurity threats and implementing protective measures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 15 years of relevant business and IT experience, with significant experience managing multiple cross-functional teams or projects.
  2. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  3. Prior experience in a technology-centric organization or within the Technology division of a Mining, Mining Services, Construction, or Engineering firm.
  4. Strong foundation in business processes, technologies, and systems that facilitate optimal operations in high-volume and high-availability environments.
  5. Proven track record in recruiting, mentoring, and developing a successful team.
  6. Ability to balance immediate tactical decisions with long-term strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated expertise in change management, including implementation, optimization, auditing, follow-up, reporting, and project closure.
  8. Capable of operating under tight deadlines and leading effectively in high-pressure situations while adapting to rapidly changing business conditions.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including board members, peers, customers, vendors, and industry thought leaders.
  10. Ability to lead, influence, and communicate across the organization.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build rapport and trust.
  12. Documented experience with Microsoft Windows environments, including MS-SQL and Microsoft Office 365 applications, SharePoint, and Power BI dashboards, as well as configuration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of TCP/IP networks supporting VoIP management.
  13. Familiarity with the optimal technology solutions for underground mining settings.
  14. Understanding of mine safety and the role of technology in enhancing safety in underground mining operations.
  15. Language proficiency: English required; Spanish highly desirable.
