Position Summary:

The Chief Technology Officer will collaborate with the Executive Team to establish and articulate the strategic vision for the company's Digital Transformation, spearheading the implementation of this strategy. This individual possesses a deep understanding of the technology landscape and is driven to elevate our organization to new heights. An ideal candidate will have a diverse background in technology and a keen insight into emerging trends, including Business Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, AI, IoT, and Cybersecurity. The CTO will be enthusiastic, driven, and adept at aligning business objectives with suitable technological solutions, leveraging data-driven strategies to enhance decision-making processes at Dumas while optimizing interoperability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Digital Transformation initiatives in alignment with the company's broader growth objectives.
  2. Engage with leadership and staff to address challenges, coordinate efforts, and resolve issues.
  3. Ensure adherence to technology standards and best practices, resolving technical challenges efficiently and cost-effectively.
  4. Oversee research and analysis of cutting-edge technologies to assess their feasibility for implementation.
  5. Manage and supervise technology projects of varying scales, including research & development, planning, and execution, utilizing the DORA framework.
  6. Stay informed about technology standards, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
  7. Proactively respond to significant technological shifts to maintain the company's competitive edge.
  8. Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and social responsibility regulations in internal processes and customer-facing services.
  9. Establish and uphold technical standards for product development and operational practices.
  10. Develop and oversee the departmental operating budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  11. Negotiate service level agreements with internal and external stakeholders, monitoring service delivery to meet established standards.
  12. Responsible for attracting, developing, and managing a high-performing Technology team.
  13. Direct the formulation and execution of policies, procedures, and standards related to technology and telecommunications systems.
  14. Manage the procurement, inventory, and disposal of hardware and software, serving as the primary liaison with vendors.
  15. Ensure the integrity and continuous operation of network systems, including wireless networks, while supporting mission-critical operations.
  16. Oversee the development and certification of backup and disaster recovery plans, implementing corporate-level network security measures.
  17. Accountable for safeguarding all data and networks, maintaining an awareness of current and future cybersecurity threats, and implementing protective measures.

Qualifications:

  1. 15 years of relevant business and IT experience, with significant experience managing cross-functional teams or projects.
  2. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  3. Prior experience in a technology-focused role within the Mining, Mining Services, Construction, or Engineering sectors.
  4. Strong understanding of business processes and technologies that facilitate optimal operations in high-volume environments.
  5. Proven track record in recruiting, mentoring, and developing successful teams.
  6. Ability to balance immediate tactical decisions with long-term strategic planning.
  7. Demonstrated expertise in change management, including implementation, optimization, and project closure.
  8. Capable of thriving under tight deadlines and leading through challenging situations while adapting to rapidly changing business conditions.
  9. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  10. Strong interpersonal skills, fostering rapport and trust across the organization.
  11. Experience with Microsoft Windows environments, including MS-SQL and Microsoft Office 365 applications, as well as knowledge of network management and VoIP systems.
  12. Understanding of technology applications in underground mining environments, with a focus on enhancing safety.
  13. Language proficiency: English required; Spanish highly desirable.
