We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to enhance our Construction Services, Materials Engineering, and Laboratory Group. This role will be based in Burlington and will involve collaborating with a skilled team of engineering experts, professionals, and technical staff to advance our service capabilities in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory testing for asphalt materials, including CCIL Type B Certified Superpave and Marshall testing.
  • Participate in proficiency tests and uphold all necessary laboratory certifications.
  • Perform certified testing with efficiency and precision.
  • Gather and interpret data, ensuring accurate entry of test results for comprehensive reporting.
  • Maintain equipment calibration, perform maintenance, and uphold general housekeeping standards to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Engage in quality audits and report any non-conformances to the Lab Lead.
  • Manage the shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage, and disposal of samples.
  • Assist in ordering and restocking laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with office staff, including field technicians, technologists, and administrative personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary technical education in Civil Engineering/Technology or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with CCIL certified Marshall and/or SuperPave testing methods.
  • Strong understanding of standardized lab testing procedures (MTO, ASTM, AASHTO).
  • Experience with CCIL laboratory certification processes, equipment maintenance, and proficiency testing programs.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, independent thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with data entry and report generation capabilities.
  • Safety-conscious with a solid understanding of workplace health and safety protocols.
  • Current CCIL certification is preferred.
