About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services under the direct supervision of Emergency Department attending Physicians
  • Conduct comprehensive and focused physical assessments and interpret findings
  • Formulate a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation results
  • Implement effective treatment plans that include preventive and therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with and seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals involved in the patient's care

Requirements
  • Graduate of or currently enrolled in an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • Must have recent emergency medicine experience
  • The following certifications or willingness to obtain: ACLS, PALS, ATLS
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment and telecommunications skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • 2x permanent, full-time positions
