We are in search of a meticulous and professional Junior Tax Consultant to join our team at the Head Office in Calgary. This role involves preparing and managing both Canadian and US tax obligations for our organization.A Day in the Life:
- Prepare monthly Sales Tax Returns for both US and Canadian jurisdictions.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of all tax accounts.
- Oversee the Sales Tax System, ensuring all Exemption Certificates are current and accurate.
- Research and offer guidance on sales tax inquiries, both internally and externally.
- Support tax audits for annual financial assessments and governmental reviews.
- Complete necessary tax filing registrations and business licenses.
- Assist in the preparation of:
- Quarterly tax provisions
- Annual Canadian Tax Returns
- Information for US Corporate Tax Returns
- Transfer pricing documentation
- Respond to governmental inquiries regarding tax filings, registrations, and audits.
- Develop written policies, procedures, and controls related to taxation.
- Provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant tax experience.
- Fundamental understanding of indirect tax and Canadian corporate income tax.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to collaborate closely with the Tax Team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Capacity to handle large volumes of financial data.
- Ability to learn and adapt to various systems.
