Job Overview

Join I-WAY TRANSPORT INC. as a dedicated Truck Driver in a permanent position. This role involves operating commercial vehicles to ensure the safe and efficient transport of goods.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan or modify routes based on real-time conditions, utilizing computer systems and GPS technology to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
  • Load and unload cargo securely.
  • Acquire necessary permits and documentation for international transport.
  • Operate and navigate straight or articulated trucks for the delivery of goods.
  • Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, and brakes, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Conduct brake adjustments and perform thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch to relay information.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo during transport.
  • Handle and transport hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
Licenses and Certifications
  • AZ class license required.
Documentation Proficiency
  • Familiarity with accident reports, driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance records, and trip reports.
Equipment and Transportation Experience
  • Experience with tractor-trailer operations.
  • Long-haul, national, provincial/territorial, and regional travel experience.
Safety and Security Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal record check and driving record verification.
  • Drug testing and medical examinations are mandatory.
Travel Information
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods and overnight trips.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • Ability to handle heavy loads and manage a large workload.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Position involves prolonged sitting.
