Position Overview

The On-Site Project Supervisor is tasked with overseeing construction activities at PGCM work sites, ensuring that safety, quality, workmanship, and efficiency standards are upheld. This role involves managing all on-site construction personnel and enforcing safety and work regulation policies. The Site Supervisor directs all work crews and individuals on-site, assigning tasks and allocating resources to meet project schedules and quality expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Mobilization

  • Collaborate with the project manager to prepare for the commencement of construction, including reviewing contractor scopes, planning mobilization, and conducting construction layout and surveying.
  • Organize and establish temporary facilities, determining layout, securing necessary permits, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors for timely delivery and installation of temporary structures.
  • Oversee site mobilization, ensuring construction layout and surveying are conducted effectively.
  • Inspect surrounding constructions to preemptively identify potential conflicts or issues.
  • Conduct kick-off procedures for construction activities to reinforce project objectives.

Monitoring and Execution

  • Document daily progress on the construction site, maintaining comprehensive daily reports for each job site.
  • Supervise the work of various teams, identifying issues and implementing solutions to keep the project on schedule.
  • Manage project planning and scheduling for subcontractors on-site.
  • Facilitate site meetings as necessary, ensuring proper documentation and action planning.
  • Notify the Project Manager of any anticipated delays or changes in project scope.
  • Ensure all subcontractor work complies with contract specifications and drawings.
  • Advise trades on quality control standards and expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to first aid and emergency response protocols, including CPR and basic first aid.
  • Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and PGCM Health and Safety standards.
  • Guide the Assistant Site Supervisor and Foremen in executing operational strategies and plans.
  • Foster effective communication with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, and subcontractor relations.
  • Promote positive relationships with subcontractors by engaging professionally and fairly.
  • Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders, including Project Team, Sub-Trades, Consultants, and Owners.

Record Keeping and Documentation

  • Maintain detailed records of all project aspects, including daily reports, time sheets, material deliveries, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of progress and resolution of site disputes through proper record-keeping.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Site Superintendent or Assistant Site Superintendent in both low-rise and high-rise buildings.
  • A college diploma in a relevant construction-related field is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of all CSI Divisions.
  • A solid understanding of various construction trades and techniques.
  • Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures effectively.
  • First Aid, Fall Arrest, and/or other relevant certifications are considered assets.
  • Proven effectiveness in construction safety and productivity.
  • Knowledge of provincial workplace compliance regulations and legislation.
  • A valid Class G license.
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry operations, including specifications, materials, methods, and procedures.
