Position OverviewThe Construction Site Manager will oversee on-site construction operations at PGCM work sites, ensuring adherence to high standards of safety, quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency. This role involves managing all on-site construction personnel and enforcing necessary safety and work regulation policies. The Site Manager will direct all work crews and individuals on-site, assigning tasks and allocating resources to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:Project Planning and Mobilization
- Collaborate with the project manager to prepare for the commencement of construction, which includes reviewing contractor scopes, planning mobilization, and conducting construction layout and surveying.
- Establish and set up temporary facilities, determining layout, securing necessary permits, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors for timely delivery and installation of temporary structures. This includes preparing staging area plans for material handling, deliveries, offices, portable washrooms, cranes, hoists, swing stages, scaffolding, and other temporary equipment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee site mobilization, including construction layout and surveying.
- Inspect surrounding constructions to preemptively identify potential conflicts or issues.
- Conduct kick-off procedures for construction activities.
Monitoring and Execution
- Document daily progress on the construction site and maintain daily reports for each job site.
- Supervise the work of various teams, identifying issues and implementing solutions to keep the project on schedule.
- Manage project planning and scheduling for subcontractors on-site.
- Facilitate site meetings as necessary, ensuring proper documentation and action planning.
- Promptly notify the Project Manager of any anticipated delays or changes in project scope.
- Ensure all subcontractor work complies with contract specifications and drawings.
- Reinforce quality control standards with trades.
- Ensure adherence to first aid and emergency response protocols, including CPR and basic first aid.
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and PGCM Health and Safety standards.
- Guide the Assistant Site Supervisor and Foremen in executing operational strategies and plans.
- Foster effective communication with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations, and project direction.
- Promote positive relationships with subcontractors by engaging professionally and fairly, instilling this philosophy within the project team.
- Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders, including the Project Team, Sub-Trades, Consultants, and Owners.
Record Keeping and Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all project aspects, including daily reports, time sheets, material deliveries, incident reports, and other relevant records.
- Ensure accurate records are kept to track progress and resolve site disputes.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Site Manager or Assistant Site Manager in low-rise and high-rise buildings.
- A college diploma in a relevant construction-related field is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Working knowledge of all CSI Divisions.
- A solid understanding of all construction trades and techniques.
- Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership abilities.
- Capability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- First Aid, Fall Arrest, and/or other relevant certifications are considered assets.
- Effectiveness in construction safety and productivity.
- Knowledge of provincial workplace compliance regulations and legislation.
- A Class G license.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and equipment specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry operations, including specifications, materials, methods, and procedures.
