Job Title: Senior Bridge Engineer

Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec, is a leading provider of infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Senior Bridge Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects. This includes acting as structural lead and designer for small and medium-sized engineering assignments, attending site visits, and coordinating work with other disciplines.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects, including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Act as structural lead and designer for small and medium-sized engineering assignments.
  • Attend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, construction, and post-construction review.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines, including highway/road, electrical, drainage, and environmental planning.
  • Analysis and evaluation of appropriate design solutions and design of transportation structures.
  • Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables prior to submission to client.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimates.
  • Provide tender evaluations and/or construction engineering services.
  • Work within assigned project budgets and schedules.
  • Mentor junior staff with regards to project work.
Qualifications:
  • B.ASc. or B.Eng. in Civil/Structural Engineering, with strong interest and experience in structures, particularly bridges.
  • P.Eng. status and minimum 6 years of proven experience in design using Canadian codes and design standards.
  • Interest in working both in the office and the field environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with CAD and SAP2000, CSiBridge, SFRAME.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment and excel in both bridge and multi-disciplined projects.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to mentor technical development of others.
  • Works well with minimal direct supervision.
  • Exercises independent judgment.
