About the Role

The Welder Fabricator is responsible for fusing metal components and other metal parts together for construction and/or fabrication at Waiward Industrial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Display a commitment to Waiward's incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Read blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Fuse metal components using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes.
  • Operate tools and equipment, including overhead cranes, oxy-acetylene torches, and sub arc welding machines.
  • Attend daily toolbox meetings to discuss safety and production goals.
  • Complete tasks with minimal non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Document and follow established procedures to ensure quality and safety.
  • Wear personal protective equipment at all times and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Report personal injuries and obtain medical attention as required.
  • Follow shop rules and regulations to ensure a safe and productive work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • CWB Transferable Welder Qualification, including Tack Welder.
  • Basic Rigging Course and FLHA Training are assets.
  • WHMIS certification is required.

Working Conditions

The Welder Fabricator will work in a fabrication shop with moderate noise and hazardous fumes. The incumbent must have close visual acuity to perform tasks and stand for extended periods.
