About the Opportunity

The Claims Management and Medical Surveillance Program Specialist will be responsible for managing the claims management program related to workplace injuries and illnesses, from the declaration stage to resolution, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. The Specialist will report to the Incident Management and Emergency Response Manager.

What You Can Expect to Do with Us
  • Manage the claims management program related to workplace injuries and illnesses, from the declaration stage to resolution, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including the HR and Culture team, Legal Affairs, and Payroll, to collect relevant documentation and information in the processing of claims.
  • Interface with workers' compensation boards and external agencies to effectively manage claims, minimize claim costs, and reduce financial obligations.
  • Support the development of WSP's medical surveillance program in line with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with occupational health professionals to develop protocols for pre-employment screening, periodic health evaluations, and post-incident medical examinations, as needed.
  • Ensure that all employee medical surveillance activities are conducted and planned in a timely manner and maintain records and databases.
  • Analyze medical surveillance data to identify trends, health risks, and opportunities for proactive intervention to protect employee well-being.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant regulations and best practices in claims management, medical surveillance, and occupational health.
  • Maintain detailed records of claims, medical examinations, and surveillance activities, ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times.
What You'll Bring to WSP
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in a similar role requiring multiple regulatory competencies.
  • Knowledge of medical surveillance protocols, occupational health practices, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to critically evaluate information and target underlying causes of incidents.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to conduct effective interviews with witnesses, collect information, and present conclusions to diverse audiences.
  • Meticulousness, accuracy, and objectivity in processes and investigation reports.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in using Microsoft Teams and Office software, and the ability to quickly learn the SSE platform.
  • Bilingualism in French and English - an asset.
