Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Northwest Territories Power Corporation. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and operation of diesel generators and related equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel generators and associated equipment, including pumps, compressors, radiators, heat exchangers, lubricating oil systems, fuel oil systems, and cooling systems.
  • Conduct minor and major overhauls on diesel engines, including EMD, MTU Series 4000, and Cat 3500 series engines.
  • Diagnose problems and propose solutions to ensure efficient and safe operation of equipment.
  • Work safely and adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health & Safety and Environmental programs.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Health & Safety program, Environment program, and NTPC's safety culture.
  • Collaborate with other trades and contractors as required and provide guidance and training to operational staff.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic with three years' experience or Journeyman Automotive Technician with five years' experience.
  • Valid NWT Class 5 driver's license or equivalent.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
