Position Overview
The Mental Health Community Advocate is responsible for delivering a variety of clinical services to adults and their families who are impacted by mental health challenges, substance use, or gambling issues. This role encompasses both clinical and community environments, offering services such as screening, assessment, brief interventions, case management, and both individual and group therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive screening and assessment services, including risk evaluations.
- Implement evidence-based care plans tailored to individual client needs.
- Facilitate group sessions and support interventions that emphasize harm reduction and recovery principles.
- Act as a liaison between clients and community resources, ensuring effective navigation of services.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients and their families in the treatment process.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and community organizations to enhance service delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Knowledge of community resources and program development methodologies.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Work Environment
This is a permanent full-time position requiring flexibility to travel to various sites as needed. The role offers a competitive hourly wage.
