The Director will be responsible for supporting various functions, including effective monitoring and control of material credit risks across RBC's Real Estate Lending Portfolio, and assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit.
You will focus on maintaining the risk profile, alignment with the business, operational effectiveness, sharing best practices with business partners, and working towards a high level of efficiency in the management of assigned portfolios, and enhancing the client experience.
Key Responsibilities- Adjudicate Real Estate credit applications within delegated lending limits, influencing portfolio quality through strategic assessment of risk, attention to data quality, and knowledge-sharing.
- Ensure accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and followed to protect shareholder interests.
- Ensure credit transactions are adjudicated, for the most part, within Policy Guidelines, Standards, and Procedures, and mitigate risks as necessary.
- Deliver consistent decisions with solid communication of rationale for support, amendments, or declines, ensuring clients and colleagues are treated with respect, a highly professional empathetic approach is used, and good working relationships are maintained.
- Look for and act upon opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility, and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices, partnering with stakeholders to achieve collective results.
- Act as a catalyst to ensure the team is strategically aligned with business strategies while maintaining the Bank's desired risk profile.
- Take initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication, fully utilizing other resources, including other risk teams.
- Undergraduate degree in business or risk-related field, Master's in Finance or Risk, MBA, and in pursuit of CFA/FRM designation preferred.
- Strong risk assessment and financial analysis skills.
- Business and financial insight.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
