Position Overview:

The Construction Project Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the planning, execution, and coordination of tenant and communal area activities related to construction and renovation projects. This position is essential for ensuring that all projects align with the strategic objectives of West Edmonton Mall and its affiliated entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure renovation projects are completed within budget, on schedule, and meet quality expectations.
  2. Utilize industry expertise to manage various renovation and remodeling projects across multiple locations as required.
  3. Interpret and analyze construction plans and specifications, including blueprints and schematics.
  4. Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation and specifications.
  5. Identify opportunities for cost savings and potential risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  6. Coordinate and supervise the activities of contractors and subcontractors to ensure project completion.
  7. Monitor project inspections, quality control, and compliance with safety regulations, ensuring all follow-ups are executed satisfactorily.
  8. Support the Head of Planning in matters related to code compliance and permitting processes.
  9. Respond to inquiries, prioritize tasks, and represent the Construction Department as needed.
  10. Oversee daily construction activities, tracking progress and addressing any deficiencies.
  11. Maintain accurate project documentation, including change orders and material deliveries.
  12. Procure pricing from subcontractors and prepare contract documentation.
  13. Manage purchase orders and invoices in line with budgetary controls.
  14. Review tenant consultant drawings for adherence to mall standards.
  15. Engage with tenant consultants regarding storefront designs and signage.
  16. Prepare and submit necessary building permits.
  17. Provide regular updates on project workloads and associated risks.
  18. Create schedules for individual projects and high-level forecasts for upcoming work.
Qualifications:
  1. Experience in project coordination within the construction and renovation sectors.
  2. Knowledge of renovation industry practices, including project timelines and compliance standards.
  3. Formal training in a relevant trade or discipline, with experience in project management as a plus.
  4. Strong project management, interpersonal, and time management skills to ensure project alignment with specifications and schedules.

Exceptional communication skills are essential for collaborating with various stakeholders, including contractors, technical personnel, and executives.

Employment Terms:
  1. This is a full-time role requiring availability Monday through Friday, with flexibility for project-specific hours.
  2. Compensation is salary-based, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  3. Eligible for a 4-day workweek program.
  4. Must successfully complete a basic security clearance.
