Your Role: Director, Global Banking & Markets Operational Risk Oversight

As a Director within GBM's First Line Supervision, Internal Controls team, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing control processes across our dynamic business lines. You will collaborate closely with the second line of defense (e.g., Compliance) to ensure robust risk management practices are embedded throughout GBM operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct, and execute delegated trade and communications surveillance activities in alignment with established supervisory frameworks.
  • Conduct comprehensive oversight of sales and trading activities, escalating any concerning trends to relevant business line heads for prompt remedial action.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for incidents, conducting thorough investigations and implementing necessary remediation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to business line personnel on non-financial risks, controls, and supervision procedures.
  • Maintain meticulous audit trails of supervisory activities and ensure comprehensive documentation of delegated supervisory responsibilities by business lines.
  • Evaluate the impact of operational risk management from changes arising from business expansion into new geographies, new products and services, organic growth, system implementations, regulatory requirements, and more.
  • Review regulatory and audit findings, collaborating with business line management to formulate effective responses and track remediation progress.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory requests on behalf of the business.
  • Provide regular reporting to GBM Management on the effectiveness of internal controls within respective business lines, including analyses of root causes for control breakdowns and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Lead and supervise teams within Internal Control responsible for executing delegated supervisory and oversight responsibilities across both Internal Control and Trade Floor Supervision functions.
  • Cultivate a high-performing team environment by implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates your team members.
