Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sommelier Supervisor to join our team at Marriott International. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, while also leading and mentoring our wine service staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with guests, employees, and departments to ensure seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain wine lists, including pairing and suggesting wines to complement menu items.
  • Attend wine tastings and build relationships with vendors to stay up-to-date on new wine offerings.
  • Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
  • Monitor and maintain wine cellar inventory, equipment, and glassware to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Conduct staff wine tastings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including setting up supplies and tools, cleaning equipment, and securing storage areas.
  • Inspect storage areas for organization, use of FIFO, and cleanliness.
  • Complete scheduled inventories and stock and requisition necessary supplies.
  • Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety, and guest well-being.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and ensure compliance with state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of related work experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine service, including wine pairing and wine list development.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
