Job Description

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a Faculty position in Range Management and Land Use. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the Regenerative Agriculture Program at our Williams Lake campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver a syllabus for RGEN 1010 Orientation Week and On-Farm Practicum or Self-Directed Learning Plan.
  • Co-facilitate orientation week with the RGEN program coordinator for all first year RGEN 1010 students.
  • Meet with host farm practicum mentors to understand their farm environment and needs, and ensure they have a copy of the information.
  • Meet with each first year student who is working on a host farm and choose learning competency goals for their on-farm practicum.
  • Update performance evaluations sheets for student competencies and work habits.
  • Meet with first year students who are staying on their home farm property and assist them to develop goals for competencies they would like to learn over the first year of the RGEN program.
  • Meet with support staff to understand their role for students and communicate new role for RGEN 1010 practicum instructor.
  • Conduct Zoom meetings with each student and host farm three times through the first year of their practicum to complete student competency check sheets and general evaluation form for student work habits.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Master of Science degree in Range Management or a related field, with experience in range and land management, knowledge of range and land management in the BC context, and work experience in farming at the field/operational level. Additionally, the candidate will have experience collaborating with farmers.
