Are you an experienced paralegal or law clerk with a strong interest in legal research, contract oversight, and commercial operations? We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to become a Senior Paralegal / Law Clerk, providing support to the Director of Legal (Canada) and other essential stakeholders. This role presents an excellent opportunity to work autonomously on a diverse range of legal matters, contribute significantly, and play a vital role in promoting legal excellence throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Assistance: Aid in the drafting, assessment, negotiation, and finalization of various general business agreements, including RFP submissions and legal communications.

Contract Adherence: Address and resolve inquiries related to contract compliance and routine legal questions under the guidance of the Director of Legal (Canada).

Problem Resolution: Work collaboratively with multiple parties to address routine legal challenges associated with product acquisitions, provincial health authorities, clinical trials, confidentiality agreements, and more.

Advisory Role: Provide daily legal support to the Director of Legal (Canada) on a broad spectrum of legal matters and commercial activities.

Project Involvement: Participate in special projects as needed, ensuring that all agreements adhere to our legal standards.

Independent Management: Oversee a wide array of contracts across our business units, exercising discretion and independent judgment.

Template Creation: Develop and revise contract templates to ensure uniformity and legal compliance.

Research Duties: Conduct comprehensive, internet-based legal research on subjects such as corporate law, intellectual property, privacy, and ethics.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Paralegal or Law Clerk diploma (mandatory).
  • Licensed Paralegal and legal coursework related to healthcare, privacy, or competition law (preferred).

Skills Required:

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in legal research with a solid understanding of legal resources and databases.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and handle projects independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Able to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals at all levels.

Experience Needed:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a paralegal or law clerk in a corporate law environment.
  • Extensive background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating general business contracts.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector and fluency in French are highly desirable.
