Job Overview:

Position: Director of Finance & Procurement

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Finance and Procurement will oversee all aspects of financial management, including:

  1. Leading the annual budgeting process and preparing financial forecasts.
  2. Ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
  3. Conducting regular bank reconciliations and preparing monthly financial statements.
  4. Presenting quarterly financial reports to the Board and relevant stakeholders.
  5. Building and managing a high-performing finance team through effective hiring and training.
  6. Coordinating year-end financial audits with external auditors.
  7. Collaborating with the CEO and Division Directors to assess business risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  8. Preparing comprehensive financial statements for both internal and external review.
  9. Maintaining adherence to procurement policies and ensuring accurate reporting.
  10. Ensuring thorough documentation in accordance with public sector accounting standards.
  11. Fostering a culture of service excellence within the finance department.
  12. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. CPA designation with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
  2. Familiarity with Public Sector Accounting Standards is preferred.
  3. Experience in a government organization is advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  2. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, SAGE, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  5. Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
Work Environment:

This role is primarily office-based, requiring minimal physical exertion. A high level of accuracy in data handling is essential.
