Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Millwright Technician to join our team at GERDAU S.A. as a key member of our maintenance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant's mechanical equipment, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, install, repair, replace, and adjust mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Service mechanical aspects of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems to maintain equipment reliability.
  • Receive and execute work orders, prints, and instructions to complete scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work.
  • Determine the best course of action to minimize production interruptions and ensure safe equipment operation.
  • Advise on equipment shutdowns to prevent damage or minimize harm.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, repairs, and materials usage on computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Perform regular machinery checks using checklists or digital tools to identify abnormalities and ensure equipment operates within normal specifications.
  • Responsible for performing assigned maintenance work on large and small producing units.
  • Operate power-driven mobile equipment and ordinary crane hooking.
Requirements
  • Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Mechanic/Millwright – A) as recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario is required.
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with exposure to Bearings, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Lubrication, Rotating Equipment.
  • Strong communication and work ethic, ability to work in a team and with other trades.
  • Basic computer experience.
