About the Role

The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for leading the overall operations of the HR Department and its associated programs and functions in support of corporate goals and objectives. This will involve strategically planning and evaluating HR programs, overseeing the development and implementation of company policies and procedures, and engaging the organization in achieving its business and people objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. HR Strategy and Operations
  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and development of the company's HR strategies and procedures.
Leadership Development
  • Promote continuous corporate improvement, including personal and organizational goals to develop leadership capacity.
HR Staff Management
  • Manage and develop HR staff; monitor and evaluate employee performance.
Policy and Compliance
  • Provide direction to all levels of management & employees for HR related issues.
  • Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, practices, processes, and systems meet corporate and comply with applicable legislation.
Talent Acquisition and Management
  • Oversee the hiring, orientation, performance management, employee engagement, and possible terminations of all employees.
  • Direct talent acquisition practices and procedures.
Succession Planning and Training
  • Manage and support Succession Planning activities.
  • Direct training & development activities to ensure workforce flexibility and skills improvement.
HR Documentation and Compliance
  • Monitor HR-related documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance to business processes.
Representation and Compliance
  • Represent the organization in lawsuits, grievances, and complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian & US federal/state/provincial/municipal laws, regulations, rules, standards, and guidelines.
Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Support HR related M&A initiatives and requirements.

Requirements

  1. Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR, or related discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years experience as an HR generalist in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Minimum 5 years senior leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment as a senior HR professional.
Language
  • Bilingual (English & French) is preferred.
Certifications
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of current employment law matters, with a strong commitment to diversity management.
  • Proven track record of success in staff management, benefits administration, recruitment, training, and employee relations.
  • Superb writing and content development skills.
  • Ability to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, and techniques related to employee relations, personnel management, and recruitment.
