Role Overview

The Finance Manager will be responsible for enhancing various processes and systems associated with the financial and accounting operations of our facility. This role is pivotal in delivering essential insights that inform strategic decision-making. Collaboration with the plant manager and the Finance Manager in Lac Megantic will be key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate comprehensive reports and conduct analyses on weekly and monthly performance, including variance assessments against budget and previous years.
  • Oversee month-end closing processes and manage accounts in compliance with applicable regulations (Masonite, US GAAP, and Canadian standards).
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Conduct thorough monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses of profit and loss, inventory, capital expenditures, workforce metrics, and cash flow in relation to actual, forecasted, and annual operating plan results.
  • Facilitate the development and communication of annual operating plans and forecast timelines while tracking key deliverables.
  • Enhance existing practices and create more efficient processes to minimize approval cycle times in accordance with SOX regulations.
  • Analyze financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow), conduct variance analyses, and perform other financial assessments as needed.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring current and projected capital expenditures, including analysis for financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • Utilize financial concepts such as payback, NPV, and IRR to support decision-making and prioritization.
  • Prepare financial presentations and provide support for monthly executive financial reviews, quarterly results summaries, board documents, and business development initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing necessary information as required.
  • Supervise one direct report.
  • Conduct ad hoc reporting and financial analyses as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus on Accounting; CPA certification is mandatory.
  • 0-3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in cost accounting, sourcing, supply chain, or manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with matrix organizational structures.
  • Knowledge of Lean Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency with financial systems is highly beneficial.
  • Strong accountability and a sense of urgency in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines effectively.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus within cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and team management capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage at various organizational levels.
  • Capacity to distill complex data into clear communication points.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including project planning and time management.
