Job Summary

WoodGreen Community Services is seeking a skilled Crisis & Resource Counsellor to join our team. As a Crisis & Resource Counsellor, you will provide telephone and webchat support to seniors and their caregivers, connecting them with community resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to telephone and webchat referrals, conducting initial screenings and assessments to determine the most appropriate response.
  • Assess risk and safety, providing supportive counselling and crisis de-escalation services as needed.
  • Utilize electronic systems to make referrals to agencies and maintain accurate documentation and case notes.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, primary care agents, and community service providers to deliver client-centered services.
  • Maintain up-to-date statistical data for analysis and evaluation purposes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
  • 2+ years of experience in telephone counselling and crisis intervention, with a focus on supporting older adults and caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated intake/triage experience and strong assessment skills.
  • Self-directed and independent, with experience working collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in crisis response and intervention, supporting individuals with mental health and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services, with a focus on supporting older adults with geriatric issues.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Applied computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and databases.
