We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated ELL Instructional Assistant to join our team at North Kansas City Schools. The successful candidate will provide support to English Language Learners in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver English language development instruction to identified ELLs in small groups and/or individual pull-out sessions.
- Collaborate with ELL and classroom teachers to plan and deliver appropriate instruction to ELLs.
- Communicate with other staff members, family members, and others regarding the needs of ELLs.
- Assist with the administration and scoring of language assessments.
- Assist with the required reporting and record-keeping related to ELL students and the ELL program.
- Develop and implement strategies to reinforce material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students and their cultural, linguistic, and academic background.
- Maintain good home-school communication and request interpreters from the ELL office when necessary.
- Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, etc.
- Provide support to substitute teachers and serve as a substitute for the ELL teacher as assigned or required.
- Perform routine clerical duties such as filing, typing, etc.
- May be assigned specific assignments such as hallway supervision, bus duty, car rider duty, in-school suspension, after-school detention, etc.
- A minimum of 36 college hours from an accredited college or university is required.
- A valid Missouri Teaching Certificate is preferred.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.
Terms of EmploymentSalary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
