About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Capital Programs strategy at Communitech. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy that aligns with our goals and objectives of supporting founders to raise capital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a Capital Programs strategy that drives investment activity in Waterloo Region.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate investment opportunities across various industries and stages, from Seed to Series A.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on companies, including market analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
- Build and maintain relationships with founders, venture capitalists, angel investors, debt providers, and other key stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem.
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to founder companies, leveraging your expertise and network to support their growth and success in fundraising.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics to inform investment decisions and drive innovation within the ecosystem.
- Provide pitch feedback and PitchBook reports for founders.
- Mentor and coach team members, including direct reports.
- Represent Communitech at events and conferences, requiring travel.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of success in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field.
- Strong network and reputation within the investment community (Canada and US).
- Deep understanding of startup ecosystems, venture capital trends, and investment best practices.
- Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to evaluate investment opportunities and assess their potential for success.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a passion for innovation, creativity, and driving positive change.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
