Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our team at the BC SPCA. As a key member of our shelter staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional animal care, including feeding, cleaning, and providing a safe and comfortable environment for animals.
- Assist with front desk activities, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and processing adoptions.
- Work collaboratively with other shelter staff to maintain a clean and efficient shelter environment.
- Administer medications and provide basic animal care as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, volunteers, and other staff members.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers' License and driver's abstract.
- Philosophical harmony with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the BC SPCA.
- Demonstrated interest in all aspects of animal welfare.
- Sound knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics, and common diseases.
- Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills: patience, professionalism, positive attitude, attention to detail, adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues, customers, and volunteers.
- Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize demands on time.
- Computer experience: Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
